New Director to Lead High Performance Computing and Data Center
The University of Alabama has appointed Fernanda Foertter as the executive director of its High Performance Computing and Data Center.
High Performance Computing and Data Center Construction Ready to Begin
The University of Alabama Board of Trustees gave final approval on Friday for the plans to build the new High Performance Computing and Data Center on the eastern edge of campus. Construction can now begin with a projected completion date in late 2026.

A new high-performance computing center at The University of Alabama will enhance innovation and discovery while enriching student experiences that ready them to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Current Services
The Office of Information Technology supports UA’s current high-performance computing (HPC) clusters hosted in our colocation HPC data center. They can also assist with data storage, web portals, getting started with AI/ML, database servers, cloud compute resources, and research software licensing.
